heat cycling tire???
heat cycling tire???
I bought some PZero Nero tires and I was wondering if you have to heat cycle the tires before you hit the track. I'll probably be able to put 100 miles on the tires before I hit the track. Is that good enough? And what happens if you don't "properly" heat cycle the tires before you hit the track? Thanks.

street tires don't need to be heat cycled before hitting the track. street tires are designed the go though thousands of heat cycles during their usable life. 100 miles of normal street driving is enough to scrub the mold release compound from the tire, which is what makes tires kinda sketchy when they're brand new. just remember to let the tires warm up for half a lap to a whole lap each session, espesially if its a cooler morning at the track.

you're quite welcome.
i'm partial to the S0-3s, they're more than fine in the rain here. haven't driven on the pirellis though. i tend to like tires with a very stiff sidewall, which means that he S0-3s fit me perfectly. that and hey don't howl when sliding. i ran down the backside of Hamilton this past weekend (San Antonio Valley Road to Mines Road), for a total of about 50 miles of twisties. i kept a pretty quick pace, and the tires didn't go off at all. can't say the same for my brakes though.

I haven't got them yet...but when I do, I'll be doing some track driving and since its been raining up in Nor Cal...I'll be testing their wet weather traction. So I'll let you guys know how they turn out. I was thinking of S-03's...but wanted something a little cheaper...hopefully these aren't too cheap. But thanks again for the responses dropkick-muppet and I'll keep post something about the PZero Nero after I've tried them.
