Smile Fuzion from Bridgestone/Firestone

I'm planing on changing my tires next month. Thinking about purchasing the Fuzion tire from Firestone store. Have anyone heard good or bad review about it? I know that they are not the greatest out there, but I'm on the budget here (and I have like $800 credit w/ Firestone). Any feedbacks would be highly appreciated. Thanks all.

I also would like to know more about these tires. I called tirerack about them and the sales guy said they are good. I'm just looking for a cheap tire that I can autox on. I have almost completely worn out my set of Kumho Victoracers and dont have the money to buy another set right now. So I need something cheap to use in the meantime. For me the choices are the fuzion, kumho excsta mx, or falken azenis. The thing I like about the fuzion is that they are cheaper than the other two tires.

I bought 225/45/17 so3's from firestone for $717 and that included mounting and balanceing. So3's are a great tire but they wont last as long as a lower performance tire and they are not rated for snow.

Thumbs up Fuzion ZRi

Bought a set of Fuzion ZRi 205/55R16 and very happy with these tires so far. Drove to Mt. Hami for the meet and they felt great. Grip pretty good (over stock RE92), very little squeaking noise on sharp turns. I only paid $323 out the door (w/ RE92 trade-in + hook up from a friend at Firestones). I was trying to put a review but it was not on the list. Has anyone from i-club purchased these tires? Thanks all.

This isn't meant as a jab at anyone in particular, but I am always amazed that people will spend $25k+ on a car, and yet try to shave money off tire purchases -- even though the tire is the ONLY CONTACT POINT that the car has with the road, and is critical to handling, performance and safety.

At 35k or more miles of wear for modern tires, that means you'll have those tires on the car for almost 1/4 of the car's life (assuming you dump it at 140k miles, like most people do with cars) -- unless you drive on a road of tacks and nails, there's no advantage in the long run to going with the cheapo bargain tires, IMO. And if you intend to be competitive at Auto-X, you're going to have to shell out for R-compound tires; there's really no substitute for racing tires when everyone else is running them.

When you spend 25K on a car, you pay for it over time (4-5 years in normal circumstances). Dropping $600 at once is a bit harder for some people. There are soooo many things I want to buy for my car, but I only have a finite amount of money to spend each month. I have to choose my upgrades very carefully.

Everyone's on a budget. Some have large budgets and some have smaller budgets. While I agree that something as important as tires should be carefully considered, price does not always dictate quality. I've heard from numerous people that paid obscene amounts of money for a set of tires say that it wasn't worth it in the long run. And I've heard from people that bought the cheaper tires rave about them. When it comes to tires, there isn't a magical ceiling where once you spend enough money, the tires instantly become tank treads. In many cases, all you're paying for is the brand name. Tires are probably the most expensive necessity for a car, and spending a ton of money on something that begins to degrade the minute they are installed can be a hard thing to rationalize. Finding a perfect symmetry of cost vs. effectiveness can be frustratingly difficult. It's a trial and error process.

I don't want this construed as a flame. No disrespect is meant to anyone, especially you, meilers. I just used your post as a springboard for my point/counterpoint.

I'm just tryin' to look out for us little (budget) guys.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely agree that smart shopping is a good idea -- there is no guarantee that paying more for a tire will get you that exact dollar amount of performance. Certainly with a Bridgestone heritage, the Fuzion is probably not a junk tire. However, if I was to prioritize how I would spend money on a car in order to maintain the value of my investment, I'd wash the car less often and cut corners in other areas in order to supply the car with 1) really good synthetic oil, every 3k and 2) good, grippy tires.

The reason I feel so strongly about this is because I'm a convert -- I have been getting by my whole life with buying Discount Tire generics at $50 apiece. When I finally splurged $160 a tire for my F1 GS-D3s, my eyes were opened; it was like getting a brand-new WRX. The difference is really that huge. If I could put a monetary value on the ear-splitting grin I get on my face when I take a corner at speed, well -- I'd say I got a bargain, and then some.

Fuzion ZRi cost about $90 per tire. It just happened that I got really good deal on these tires because of a hook-up from a buddy of mine. The price that I paid for them would have been around $500 w/ warranty. Luckily, I only have to pay $323 out the door. Dude, if I didn't have to pay my loan and credit card bill, I would have purchased RE750, or better yet, S0-3. I just wanted to know if I was the only person w/ Fuzion ZRi from i-club. Thanks all.

I couldnt have said it better myself. Buying so3's and some 17x7.5 rims was the best bang for the buck mod I have done to my rex. I fell in love with the car all over again. The only thing I dont like about my investment is the fact that I have to take them off in the winter and remember to hit the corners a lot slower. It may not be as bad next winter when I put some blizzacks on the stock rims.
