Diff Between 17x7.5 and 17x7 wheel sz
I notice that the 17" Prodrive P1 at tirerack.com is a 17x7 wheel. Will the 7" width limit my tire selection vs say a 17x7.5" or 18x7.5" wheel?... Trying to decide between the 17" and 18" P1... this could be the tie-breaker... Thanks... SteveRx
Actually, what will limit your tire selection more is the depth of your fender. A wrx will only fit a 225 width tire w/out rubbing. You can mount a 245 on a 7" rim but the tire would rub really badly on your car. I personally would go w/ 17". I've ridden on 18" and the ride is very harsh.

limiting factor is offset and steering/sus geometry.
if you want to keep a stock like feel, use closest offset to
stock and try to keep your tires as narrow as possible especially
if you plan to use stiffer sidewall tires.
my recommendation is 225/45/17 with 17x7 52mm offset for
a wrx sedan. the wagon you might want to use 215/45/17's.
ive seen people use 235/40/17's and such. most tires in 205-225 size will fit 7 or 7.5inch width wheels. but some 205's will recommend u to use 7inch as the rim protector will not function that well with a 7.5inch wheel.
