Couple Quick Tire/Rim Questions
I have a black '04 wrx wagon. Couple questions:
1) How long am I stuck with the crappy tires? I know wear is dependent on many factors, but generally speaking, what's their average lifespan?
2) I will want to go 17" when the time comes. I'm digging the gold look; any suggestions? I am new to rims, so I'm wondering: does bronze look as good, is there a big cost/weight difference? I checked the Tire Rack, only saw a few golds, they were multi-spoked and expensive! Do they make 5-spoke in gold/bronze? Does that look good?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RE92s should last about 20-30k miles, with many fewer smiles. 17s are great on the wagon. You'll find that light wheels are expensive for a reason - complex and high tech manufacturing. I had some heavyweight 18s on my wagon at one time and the car lost its "umph." Didn't seem to pull as well. 17" SSR Comps quickly solved the problem.
when upgrading to the 17's you might also want to start thinking about looking into suspension mods also. If you're upgrading to 17's and thinking about performance tires (215(225)/45/17), but you have stock suspension and ride height you're going to get some pretty big fender gap.
second the rotas if you're on a budget, check out suby dude. maybe some bronze sdr's.
