Budget/Performance tire recommendation
As a fitting end to my weekend out of town, on my way back to Sacto from SFO, just before the Vallejo bridge, my right-front tire decided to end its life early (OEM, Potenza RE070).
Since I'm a bit strapped for cash, I can't just go out and get the best performing one...so I need some advice... I'm looking to replace them with something that's cheaper/lasts longer/and has comparable performance. Any recommendations out there? I'm looking for (high perf.) summer tires (maybe all-season/touring), as I have winter tires for the snow...
I've looked at tirerack & discounttiredirect for a bit this morning...how good are these Sumitomo tires? (I've never heard of them...) How about the Kumho Ecsta ASX (with a massive 420 UTQG!). Or the Dunlop SP Sport?
Thanks for your help...
Dave
edit/P.S.: is it worth it/is it safe to try to perhaps get the flat fixed, instead of buying a whole new set? These are the OEM tires, and unfortunately I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last...they have about 12,000-13,000 miles on them, but the treads were still looking good to me (and apparently to the mechanics as well, as they did not flag it as a problem during the last check-up (1000 miles ago).

I have Falken Azenis ST115s and they have been really nice so far. They weren't too expensive, they offer pretty decent grip and should have a pretty long life. You could also check out the BF Goodrich TA G-force tires. We have those on the RS and they're pretty good tires, and their original intent was to be affordable tires for the 2ner crowd
