Good STI tire recommendation?

My Sti still has original Potenzas at 30K, but the ride from living in the city is getting harsher and harsher..

What is a good tire for city driving and highway driving?..I know the STI will have some bounce, but I was thinking of the Kumho Ecsta ASX??

if you want grip but still a relatively civil ride i'd go with the bridgestone re-01r tires. The compound and the sidewall is pretty soft, so the ride is pretty good. They are also quiet, at least compared to my kumho spt's.

i've got my asx's for all season duty and as street tire...
i can def feel a diff between these and azenis or dunlop z1s. but quite frankly, i think the suspension is going to do more damage to your kidneys than anything else. there's no "nice" ride for these sf city streets.

Because they have a 140 treadwear, and ride really rough, are really noisy, stiff sidewall to the max.................horrible in the rain.

reo1r imo sucks cold grip........I was not a fan of the tire and think people hype it way to much.. When the car gets sideways with re01r it feels like crap.

michelin pilot sport sp2 is the best IMO. Almost as good in the dry as re70, killer in the wet........very light.............very nice riding, quiet......comfy on the limit. OEM tire on all the baller cars.

treadwear should be taken with a grain of salt. Different manufacturers have different ways of testing the treadwear on their brands.

Even with the same manufacturer, my re050 pole position tires with a treadwear of 140 are lasting much longer than the re92's with a 160 treadwear rating, and I drive the re050s much harder than I did the re92's. The treadwear rating could be different when comparing a summer vs all season tire though

the re70's wear out pretty quickly, especially relative to re92, too much rain in the bay area for re70's.

comfort at the limit?

i had the pilot sport ps2 on my m3, very nice ride quality, good dry weather grip. the thing i didnt like was that they kind of "snap" at the limit where it goes from predictable to complete slide.

i have the azenis 615 on my wrx and they are the opposite; loud, uncomfortable, and very predictable.... and dirt cheap

i would say plus one for the pilot sport as an option, and minus ten for the azenis
