235 40 17's on 17x8's?

No you won't rub at all stock or after market coil springs. I just put some 17 * 8 Torques on today in a 235/40/17 and there is a "big" fender gap (more than stock size). You are actually going to be running a tire that is shorter than the stock diameter. Thiswill give you a slight gearing advantage.

Now of course you'll be running a wider tire than stock but you will not rub with this size on a sedan.

Actually, you can tuck 255/40/17's on 17x8 Torques without rubbing, even when lowered.

Actually, after test fitting my new wheel/tire package... I think I can tuck 245s without rubbing.

That's because of your custom fender rolling/flaring.

Don't forget though...that is with coilovers, whic are a bit narrower at the top where a strut may rub?????

Actually I haven't touched the fronts yet; they look okay. The rears probably didn't need near as much 'help' as I gave them.

True, I have 40mm inverted struts, very similar to the STi. With +52, 17x8.5s I'm only a few mm from clearing the strut in the rear. I was surprised at how close they came to fitting.
