Glad my wheel order got messed up an cancelled, was able to go with my original choice. 17x8, +47, drag dr31, matte gm. Now comes the hard part, what size tires? Currently running at stock height w eibach sways. Also have a set of eibach springs and some 2012 struts I am THINKING about putting on. Car is a dd and never autox. Also want some rubber for ride quality and be close to oem odometer readings. Leaning toward the 245/40/17... what are yall opinions? I'm not down with the hella flushed, rubberband around rim look and prefer function.

235 is much better because it has a shorter sidewall. i.e.
- car is lowered, closer to the ground
- effectively lowers gearing for better acceleration
- less sidewall flex also means you need less camber, more street friendly, better tire wear
- less sloppy, better turn-in feel

If you stretch a narrow tire on a wide rim, you lay more tread down on the road. So the tire is effectively wider than the sidewall indicates. If you put a fat tire on a narrow rim, you pull the shoulder away from the road. So the width will be less than indicated on the sidewall...

245/40 will give you more curb protection and a more squared tire. 235/45 will give you a slightly taller overall diameter and a less squared tire. i personally would go with the 245/40 since the 235 are a little slimmer than i would like and the 45 size sidewall is too tall for my taste. it really depends on personal preference as the actual sizes are not much different. there is a handy calculator you can use to check the differences in sizes. also just google the size you want an the wheel size (ex 245/40 17x8) and you can see what it will look like.

Used the calc online to determine height, speed, ect. I do prefer the square look w rim protection, but dub has a few good points.

you also gotta look at how you're going to be driving. you said this was for a DD right? i don't think with you running lowering springs you are going to have a fitment problem and ultimately it's your call. if you're just going to get the cheapest tire you can find anyway then everything about handling performance goes right out the window so just pick one and if you don't like it you can always change the tires.

Still narrowing down.. pretty far from deciding. Not trying to spend 800+ for something that will only get me 20k miles. Thread wear of 300+, good in both dry n wet. More so dry, but live at schofield so it rqins frequently. Ideal price 500-700 for a set of 4.

im rocking 235/40/17 dunlop star specs and i've had them on my car since 2009 i would say i have about 45k+ miles on them with 75% life left.

the new dirreza ZII are the new version and much better & good with wet & dry. remeber all the safety in the world cant help you if you can stop due to "cheap" tires. tires are the only thing that touch the road

2013 WRX will be MUCH heavier than your GC, thus wear the tires faster. Anyway, Moto, you are going to have to make a choice between handling and tire life. Whats your daily commute look like? If its short you can easily get away with 200 tread wear tires.
