17x8.5 on a wrx
I know I'll need to roll my fenders for sure but, what would it take to squeeze 255/40/17s or 245/45/17's under there? What offset would i need? I was under there measureing and a 48mm looking like it would work but, I need confirmation before I do anything stupid. I have pridrive springs on the stock struts right now. Anyone ever done this? I've seen Sti's run this size before but, I don't know of any strut dimension differences between the two.
Thanks,
Bill

04 STi..
My Friend (Splitsecond) is running 18x8.5 +48mm offset SSR's with 245x40x18 KDW tires...he is using Prodrive Springs on stock STI Struts...no rubbing...mean looking...Prodrive springs give about a 2- 2.5 finger gap between the tires and wheel wells.
04 STI as well...
I bought his 225x40x18 Potenza RE-750 tires and am running 18x8 +43 offset Gram Lights 57F-Pro's with a 1 finger gap using Cusco Coilovers...Very tight fit...5mm makes a big difference when you drop lower...I believe I can fit 235x40x18's on though...any bigger with my offset and I will have to roll the rear fenders.
I have -1.5 camber in the rear and -0.75 in the front. Trying to cut down on my tire wear....my wife is wondering why I go through so many sets of tires...on my third set...I bought backup 235x40x18 Potenza RE040's...looks pretty grippy...but very pricey.
Hope that helps.

I was thinking SSR's because of their weight. How much do the Rota Slipstreams weigh in 17x8.5? I think I remember hearing that they were around 20lbs. The SSR's are right around 16lbs.
