Used Xede Stage Zero
I have a few quick questions about completing my stage zero setup. I already have installed a Vishnu Power pulley and uppipe and just bought a used Xede. I have the aluminum fitting to replace the stock fitting in the waste gate tubing. Doing research about Xede I also saw posts about putting in colder spark plugs and having a stock air box. If it is benifical to change my plugs I can do so, what plugs do you recommend for this setup, but is it necessary? Also I have removed the silencer from my intake and installed a K&N filter. Is this going to cause problems with this setup, because I will go back to a regular panel filter or completely reinstall the intake if it is going cause adverse affects.
Thanks for any help.

Do you know the person who sold you the used XEDE? Just making certain it is mapped correctly for your intended usage.
Correct colder NGK Iridium spark plug is number BKR7EIX. Platinum and copper plugs may also be used but the coppers will have to be replaced more frequently. See linked thread for more info. Order correct spark plug for your application (mine is the correct one for the '02 to '03 WRX), as the Platinum and Iridium plugs can only be re-gapped within a certain range without breaking. I ordered my plugs from www.clubplug.net. As for gap, I've heard what other people claim is the correct gap but you'd best get the answer from Vishnu Performance for Stage Zero.
EDIT: Vishnu Performance recommends a spark plug gap of .026" to .028". The NGK Iridium plugs BKR7EIX cited above ship with a gap of approximately .030".
Silencer removal and K&N should be okay as long as the element is oiled properly. Over oiling will cause a film of oil to coat the MAF sensor in the intake, causing problems. I use the OEM paper element because I don't want to have to clean the MAF. Be sure that the airbox and filter element are fully seated before latching down the clamps.

I bought this off of a member of nasioc, hdrwrx. Yes it is for a 02/03 WRX it was made for Vishnu, or at least that is what it has written on the side of the unit.
I will be completely reloading new maps into it before I use it so there should be no problems there. But I am still wondering is the replacement of the spark plug required, or just something that would be good to do in the near future?
I think that I will be putting a regular panel filter back in just to be safe. Good to know that the silencer itself should not cause a problem.
Thanks

It's advisable to change to a one-step colder plug. I haven't changed mine yet, but plan to do so before summer really sets in. Not sure if Vishnu is recommending a plug change for Stage Zero or not, but I've heard them say that it would be worth a little bit of protection against detonation. I haven't experienced any detonation problems that I'm aware of. Maybe someone will chime in with a definitive word...

I called some time ago and asked this question. I was told that for Stage Zero it will not make a difference. I wanted to change plugs at 30,000 and planned to go up a stage soon (which I did), so the recommendation was to go a step colder, since you don't want to have to change those plugs twice if you don't have to.
