The Xede revision B unit is very easy to install. Totally plug-and-play. My only gripe is that the ECU cover plate doesn't really fit because the ECU harness and Xede adapter harness prevent the cover from fitting (need some spacers?). After installation, and a blank map the engine started right up as if nothing was added on (I like this).
With the provided serial cable attached to the Xede and the serial port on the laptop (running Win2k Pro SP4) installed the Xede 2.0.0.0 software (not the beta from the Vishnu site), the Xede was recognized right away (I got happy and excited). I then flashed with the Stage 0 CA 91 octane map. Started the engine and took it for a test drive.
Man, all I could say was WOW! This is awesome! I notice a huge gain in midrange power and torque. Now I feel that I am definitely not afraid to take on a stock STi, EVO or even an M3. Woohoo!

Glad to hear you enjoy it. I've had mine for 6 months or so, after waiting 2 months or so to arrive. I had some initial problems because of the different maps available (old vs. new versions of XEDE).
With the mods that I am running now (uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, silicon hose) I really should be running a stage 1 map, but it isn't available on the Vishnu site. I'm sure they'll tune it if I make an appointment and make my way up north, but it seems they are quite a bit more focused on the XEDE for EVO lately.
Anyway, at least the car is running well with the stage 0 map, so I'm not complaining too loud.

I have installed Xedes before, and if you route them right, the ECU cover plate fits right back on. Try running the harness up towards the glove box so that the Xede sits kind of against the firewall above the ECU cover.
Also, don't get too cocky just yet... you can beat most WRXs now, but an STi or Evo or M3 will eat your car for lunch. A new turbo, injectors, and full exhaust will change that, however...
