Question Stage 0 MY04 Xede Troubles

I'm having some trouble with my Xede. Anyone out there have a successful set up with a Stage 0 MY04 (only mod is uppipe)? If so, what Xede firmware are you using and can I get a copy of the map you are using?

Apparently the maps available on Vishnu's site don't work with the '04. The car wouldn't even go. I called Vishnu and Shiv sent me a new map. I loaded that up. It was better but at higher RPMs and heavier throttle, boost would climb to about 14 PSI and then drop down to 9PSI, then build back to 14PSI then drop... on and on... Frequency was about one second. It wasn't just my boost gauge. The car was hesitating and the tone of the turbo was changing with the changes in boost.

I was also getting a flashing CEL (misfire or detonation?). It did not happen at the same time as the boost variations, though. Even running a blank map I would get the flashing CEL. I take the Xede out and it goes away. Leads me to believe that there might be a firmware load for '04. I am a complete newb to the Xede so any flaming is expected... I got a taste of the power that the unit brings. I want to get it to work at all RPM ranges and the full range of throttle.

Thanks

Seth

From my experience with Xede on 04. It didn't work, I would like to see Vishnu's answer to this problem.

I found that I would get CEL's for misfiring on all cylinders and some other CEL's I can't remember.

From what I found out that Xede doesn't fix the OL/CL problem with the 04's. There was really no way to fix this with Xede unless you got a reflash to change the OL/CL time. Since I messed with the Xede for almost 4 months trying to fix the problem and not real help with it, I chose to sell it and switch to the AP

I don't believe that a firmware update will do anything.

Thats just my 0.02 cents

The 04 does indeed have some delayed OL/CL swithing characteristics which makes things tricky. The XEDE will work on the 04 just as long as you mimic the factory boost control system and not run the XEDE boost maps in "Absolute" mode. If you use "Offset" mode and gently tweak boost pressures to the 1.0-1.1bar max, you will be fine. The key is to duplicate the delayed boost rise characteristic of the factory boost control system and not have the boost needle suddently jump from no boost to full boost. We do have a new version of the firmware which does eliminate the misfire code that some 04s and STis were getting with the XEDE.

Hope that helps,
shiv
