A crackhead died after being tazed in Sac over the weekend. He had assulted numerous people and then officers and was tazed several times. It seems that the deaths have a lot to do with drugs/alcohol and a pre existing medical problem. Advocacy Intl. I believe is calling for a ban on them. More than 100 people have died in incidents involving tazers, but the determining factore may have more to do with them being on drugs and being obese, and the 50,000 volts just helped them along a little faster.

what an idiot. she clearly has some sort of chip on her shoulder about police officers.
She got asked to put the phone down and get out of the car several times. Then asked again with a tazer in her face. She pushed the officer off her when he tried to take her off and then got tazed. Far as I can see they did what they should have done. if someone is stupid enough to speed, with a broken tail light, no seatbelt, broken windshield and suspended lisense and then give the officer isht when they get pulled over they deserve to get tazed. it doesn't even hurt that damn bad. She clearly knew the camera was on and her cell phone connected "witness" and was milking it. With the comment about her brother you could go as far as to say get back at the police department.
I hope she did sue and I hope she lost.
I mean on one hand do I think the officer had to use the tazer to get control of a 130 pound lady...probably not. But they really don't know what she's got on her or in her all they know is she's broken a few laws and is being a pain in the ***. I've had a gun pulled on me by a couple of fremont's finest....I put my hands exactly where they told me to that second.
It doesn't take a mental giant to figure out they are not messing around when they unholster a weapon as they have to file a report every time they do and it increases the level of danger for everyone around them including themselves when they do it.

It would of been worse if he used physical force and wrestled her to the ground. I think he did the right thing in that situation. About tazers though I think that there should be a setting to adjust the stun. 50,000 volts to an angry 300lb drunk and 50,000 volts on a woman under 140lbs is a major difference. just my .02
Turf, cops dont need to be in danger to use a taser, only their guns or physical force. Thats what they have the tasers for, so they dont get into situations where they have to really hurt people. Tasers hurt but once its done shocking you the pain goes away in like a minute, and i know because my best friend who is a cop in St. Petersburg has tased me in the azz before (really long story involving BBQ and liquor). Her dumb azz got what she deserved. Also i love how everything involving black people and the cops is racism according to the perp. She didnt notice the other cop was black as well?

If I didn't want to try the usual arm twist I would have hooked a thumb in her ear, a forefinger around her earlobe and lower ear and firmly pulled up and to the outside of the car. Believe me, that would have gotten her out of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, times are changing for those of us who just aren't comfortable with the idea of police reaching for the chemical agents or electronic weapons instead of dealing with people in an old-fashioned, hands-on way. Some of the street drugs make perps virtually immune to pain and reason, and AIDS means that if an infected suspect bites or scratches and then bleeds on an officer his days may be numbered. Law enforcement is going to get a lot less personal and a lot more sanitary. I just hope that a preventive tasering doesn't become the standard introduction to every traffic stop.

Which is worse...your technique that could lead to both parties getting hurt, or use the tazer and subdue the subject without any further incident?

She was definatly stupid but I think he was a tad bit impatient.
Another 2min of talking and would have ended in a bunch of tickets and most likly nothing else. Watch the vid, its 30 seconds from the 1st word out of his mouth to taze action.
Wish I could taze every stupid beech that pisses me off after 30 secs...hahaha
