May I suggest a car like a 1974 GTO or 1974 Cuda maybe? The GTO should be found for very cheap (about $7,000 in very good condition), but the Cuda may still carry a price of about $15,000.
Oh yeah definately I wasnt try to overide anything, just saying that I wanted both cars.

I don't think anyone accused you of "hijacking" or "overriding" anything.

I'll have to agree with Sinister here. While I lack the kind of automotive experience he has, I've driven my share of modern Mustangs (V6's and GT's) and while being dog slow, the car certainly feels powerful. No Japanese engine, no matter how fast it is, will ever feel the same as an American V8 equipped car that rumbles and shakes at a red light, or roars when you floor it. People don't just associate domestics with performance, but also a particular and unique experience.

You bring up a good point when you mention "no matter how fast it is" or "no matter how slow it is."

Keep in mind that the majority of the classic American Muscle Cars would be hard pressed to run much quicker than a high 13 in the 1/4. Exclude the majority of the "big block cars," and what's left? Maybe the tires were to blame? It's surely possible, but not in all cases.

Look at the numbers for the majority of the small block cars such as Camaros, Mustangs, Dusters, and even a few of the big block cars weren't any faster than a small block car (eg. 383ci Charger).

Now, compare the 1/4 times of the American Muscle to today's cars. It's not out of place to see a Honda run high 13s stock (with great driver), and those times were on par with some of the "Muscle Cars" of the era. Even the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Subaru Legacy GT, 350Z, and others. None of them have the reputation of being fast, yet they would all give your basic classic American Muscle Car a run for its money!
