+++ 50 million to GST!
I just need to give credit where credit is due.
I have been driving around... well limping in more like it, on a motor that sounded like it was done for. I thought for sure it was rod bearings and had a few other folks check it out too. All of them said it sounded like my engine was done for.
Well I detoured on my way back from S.F. on accident and decided to swing by GST to say hi and give them a heads up. Tommy pulled his head out of a track car he was working on and asked me some questions. Said... "hmmm". Still doing it. I said... yeah. So we went and started it up.
Immediately he said... that's not the bearings. Sounds like a pulley is backing out.
Recently a friend of mine and I changed my timing belt and all the pulleys so I said... hmmmm. Could be.
Within minutes Tommy and Mert had the timing cover off and discovered the problem. I had a brass guide that was rubbing on the belt. Skipping off it actually. The belt was worn down and cut all to hell. I'll post a photo if I can get it up to photobucket. Gnarly.
Needless to say, my car has a new timing belt and the quickest rod bearing repair I've ever seen. LOL.
Car is quiet and running like a champ with 177k on it. WOOT!.
Major major thumbs up to Tommy for diagnosing the issue and for Tommy and Mert fixing it insanely quick and for Mike... for being Mike. And for squeezing me in.
I am still going to start collecting parts to change out the motor though. It's only a matter of time and the more I have now the less I'll have to collect later. So hopefully I'll either have an ej255 built, wrapped and in my basement soon or I'll have Pauls ej257 long block wrapped an in my barn. Haaa.
THANK YOU GST for once again being awesome!
