U.S. Airborne Troops Head for Iraq in Major Buildup
I had to post this because one of my old Platoon Sergeants and buddies called me yesterday with this news. Turns out that two of my old units (3/325AIR & 82nd LRSD) I served with are going back to Iraq for their second time.
They laughed about it with a thick, false motivation and somewhat reserved "Hooah!"... something you wouldn't understand unless you've truly been in ****ty, suck-*** situations that lead to tons of physical & mental stress.

I'm thinking about possibly starting another care-package on January 1st? Any takers?
I just have to shoot an email to said buddies for an APO address once they set foot in the sandbox.
I can picture total chaos in the barracks as we speak. I have images of countless rifles, 100mph tape and 5-50 gut in the hallways along with countless inspections of TA-50. I bet they have a few DZ's picked out just-in-case something went sour. Sucks to be them! LOL

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military kicked off a buildup of forces in Iraq (news - web sites) by 12,000 troops on Friday as 82nd Airborne Division soldiers began leaving Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to boost security for Jan. 30 Iraqi elections
Officials at the base said first elements of two battalions, each with about 750 elite paratroopers, would move on Friday and the transit of 1,500 would be completed early next week.

count me in....
do they need any gear. I know a lot of guys aren't getting proper issue. night vision. radios. Etc?
maybe we could hook them up with something like that. Or just some freaking cookies and beef jerky man at the very least.
My heart goes out to these guys.
One of my buddies just joined. Going in as a combat medic. Airborne. I guess they are planning to stick him with a ranger platoon. He won't go over for about a year...but still.

Bump
I did one of these in the midwest, unfortunately I didn't really get much of a response.
3 donations. .
but I still filled a decently sized box, should be shipping it out tommorow.
Edit: Bump && No I didn't ship the cat.

They're attached to Blackwater for election security. Everything is quiet according to those I’ve talked in past emails. I'm still waiting for them to get R&R for an email regarding a care package APO but don't think they'll be OCONUS for too long.
