Socialist Healthcare FTMFW!!!

Can't wait for nationalized healthcare...

Record numbers go abroad for health treatment with 70,000 escaping NHS

How is that worse than no health care (if you're poor) or paying for your own care (if you are not)? There is something intrinsically wrong with providing care to everyone, but allowing all to choose for themselves if they so desire?

What's wrong with being able to choose your own? Do you not think Americans have the competence to choose their own health care?

or am I misunderstanding you?

I just don't understand why it would be such a tragedy to provide health care to those who can't afford it.

So? The world sucks, so why bother lifting a finger to attempt to improve it? That's a pretty ****ed up attitude.

18 months can mean life or death.
I have never waited more than a week for anything health care related...even when in Uncle Sugar's care.

No, but how do you pay for it?

I have a hard time believing our current health care infrastructure is not up to the task of adding 15% more patients. If you had to wait twice as long to get your bunions removed (two whole weeks) wouldn't that be worth saving people's lives, livelihoods, etc.?

We already do.

Try waiting 18 months for a heart transplant, chemo, etc.
Is that fair?

If or other option is to be denied do to lack of coverage...

As of now, for those whom are poor, all options suck.

If I have 2 dependents and a salary under $40k, how long would I wait if nobody else is paying for my health insurance?

Success could put health plan in the red

Enrollment in the state's new subsidized health plan is growing so quickly that the state could face a funding gap as large as $147 million by the end of the fiscal year, according to a state projection.

more stories like thisAn aggressive outreach campaign by the state, hospitals, community groups, and advocates, including an extensive push in the last few weeks, has put enrollment on a path that could reach nearly 180,000 by June 30.

Even if signups slow, the program will probably still be over budget - a victim of its own success - because the state has already enrolled nearly as many people as expected for the fiscal year.

But the state would have to find ways to pay the insurance bills for so many more people. Options include appropriating more money, using funds allocated to care for those without insurance, or cutting extra payments to certain hospitals that were included in the law mandating insurance.

Appropriating more money!?!

Hmmmmm......
