So there's no seperatist movement among aztlan?

http://www.latimes.com/news/educatio...-news-learning

The incident occurred after the reporter, Sandy Wells of KABC-AM (790) radio, had just finished interviewing parents, students and administrators of the Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School in El Sereno. The reporter's radio station has reported that the school teaches separatist ethics and has no white, Asian or black students.

Police said Wells had just finished his interviews and was calling his radio station when he saw a car coming toward him.

Wells ran for his car, authorities said, but the car followed him. The driver got out of the silver sedan and assaulted Wells, police said, and tried to take his equipment but got only the tape.

"There were a number of witnesses to this assault," Det. Charles Markel of the Hollenbeck Division said. "We'd like anyone who saw what happened to call us."

The Los Angeles Unified School District said it was looking into the matter. KABC talk show host Doug McIntyre, who has been discussing the school on the air, has quoted the principal and founder, Marcos Aguilar, as making "racist " statements.
Here's what they have to say:

And what La Raza has to say:

Semillas will continue to add a grade level each year, through the eighth grade. Semillas will enrich standard course offerings with dual-language immersion; global language and cultural studies; visual, performing, and martial arts instruction; and a living curriculum.
I thought that was kinda weird.

I don't like the idea of a seperatist public school at all. I do, however, like the fact that these kids are learning several languages including English.

I live in a part of Mtn View that is at least 90% Mexican American, and it doesn't bother me at all...

and like I said, I think that school is a bad idea. But at least they're not teaching in Spanish in an American public school...that was all I meant.

Really, so they can further seperat themselves from society. One of the four in the curriculum is Nahuatal, the language of the aztecs, which nobody in Mexico even really speaks anymore. So tell me, what is the point ?

My point was that they are learning English as well as others, so maybe they won't seperate themselves from society. I'll reiterate that I DO NOT like the idea of a seperatists type school like this in our public school system.

And the native language...well, what is the point...some people still learn Latin, what's the point of that?

I know, I'm just giving you a hard time.

Yes, I see your point, but latin happens to be the base of most languages spoken today.
