Interesting. I wonder if this will become the new Republican position as we get closer to the primaries

I wouldn't be suprised. Right now republicans up for re-election probably want to distance themselves (well, depending on where they are from) from the Bush administration and the war. As much as the bush administration would like to put it off that way, the war is NOT going well. We are making progress but how much does that matter when with so much bombings people are afraid to leave their homes? Now with the recent bus attack they are afraid to use public transportation too! Then comes the new Iraq constitution which is not going so peachy. It will probably be figured out (cross-fingers) but it cant be rushed. And it may not even come out the way that we want it to because of the Shi-ite influence that is looking twards Iran as a model. And finally you have the primarily suni insurgents who are fighting now to bring civil war more than anything because that is the only way they can have power. THis is because right now the Suni's are a minority, do not hold much oil, and are disliked by many shi'ites as well as the Kurds in the North. Sounds like a great deal!

(sorry, just thinking in writing)

Yeah, it'll go either way as time progresses. They really can't lose. Do whatever the polls tell you. And if everything does work itself out in Iraq most people will forget these words as the Senator conveniently quotes himself on how he was for the occupation years before. Everyone will be like, "oh... well in that case..."
