School Paper Article
I found the heading of this article in my school's news paper slightly funny. (it made me chuckle)
"Some professors worry Court may lean to right"
"As the U.S. Senate prepares to begin Monday deciding whether Judge John Roberts should serve as chief justice of the Supreme Court, some Penn State political science professors feel the Court could become more conservative with the appointment of two new justices."
The Article
Isn't that kind of a given? Bush was lucky in being able to elect two new judges. Giving him the unique power to make the Court more conservative. That just doesn't surprise me.

As opposed to it being more left? Last time I checked my private property was in the hands of local officials in exchange for some else’s private property courtesy of the left. If it were up to the left every midwife would be trained in abortion instead of childbirth and every city and town would be full of sheriff of Nottingham-type figures ready to steal what’s yours for the “greater good.”
To be honest I’d rather have a slightly conservative court. They'll most likely leave abortion alone because they know the left will scream bloody murder (like they already have with Roberts and the fear of a right-leaning court). But at least I may have the opportunity to say "what's mine is mine" once again.

If it were up to the left, everyone would have access to healthcare, guaranteed civil rights, living wages, and affordable housing.

There would be no living wage because payrolls would be nothing in order to fund that craptastic nanny state.

Affordable housing already exists and they usually turn to ghettos or bad neighborhoods. You don't want all affordable housing. Had affordable housing existed since 9/11 then our economy would barely be alive. Republicans want living wages too! But we’d rather work for them! It’s not like we’re stripping SS away from the elderly. We want a piece of the pie as well. The only thing that would be nice would be healthcare.

i find it funny how the right tries to paint this picture that the left wants some 1984 like nation state..
when its the right that is passing laws like the patriot act, terrorism laws, etc, eroding our rights away like nothing else.
Got a gun? Want to keep it? DONT GO TO NO!

If it were up to the right, people would be self-sufficient and work hard, and earn what they have.

I'm also curious why you said this thread needs more ignorance. Was I wrong in asking a legitimate question? Isn't it a given that a GOP president would appoint Conservatives to the SC if he had the chance and TRY to make it more right leaning?

Moderation is not a bad thing, both you right wingers and you lefties should consider it sometime.

This was a funny pissing match for a minute...hahaha. The funny thing is when people say "If we only had libs" or "If we only had conservatives" what they're both really saying is "Assuming that all of the sudden every one in America was a great person, if we only had [insert political party here]"...
BTW, the court was supposed to be leaning to the right before either of the two recent vaccancies. For some reason, when conservative judges get appointed by conservative presidents they 'come around' and end up being more moderate/liberal than expected. You can speculate on why that is hahahaha
