Rumsfeld admits he garnished the facts

Rumsfeld: No 'Hard Evidence' of Iraq-Al Qaeda Link

**** poor timing for Rumsfeld to come out with this information if you ask me... he should have just held his ground until he took the dirt nap.

Oh well...

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._rumsfeld_dc_3

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Monday he knew of no "strong, hard evidence" linking Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s Iraq (news - web sites) and al Qaeda, despite describing extensive contacts between the two before the Iraq invasion.

Rumsfeld, during a question-and-answer session before the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, was asked to explain the connection between Saddam and Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s al Qaeda network, blamed for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America.

"I have seen the answer to that question migrate in the intelligence community over a period of a year in the most amazing way. Second, there are differences in the intelligence community as to what the relationship was," Rumsfeld said.

"To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two," Rumsfeld added.

I don't know what to say about that...except NO S***. If you had listened to what some of the people on this forum were saying weeks ago, you'd already know that there was no WMD's and no Al Quaeda connection...it was just some of W's bulls*** that so many people in this country love to chow down on.

This is as bad as when Kennedy use the supposed NVN attacks on our ships in the Tonkin Gulf...which didn't really happen.

My God, these people could "copulate up" a soup sandwich.

So Salty after knowning all this do you still support a adminstration that lied to the public knowngly? Or do you think its time for a change? If not how do you justify that he was not fired and still holds his position. Also, they have forced Powell to leave the adminstration so no longer will a person with reason be in the white house. How can anyone still support this adminstration i will never know.

It's not that I support this administration, I just can't stomach how this country will suffer under Kerry's Administration.

IMHO I don't think it could get any worse than it has been under Bush. His screw ups are going to take generations and generations to fix.

On side A, you have liars that don't take any accountabilty for what they have done. A person that represents us as a nation that can not form proper sentences and other nations laugh at.

On side B, what do you have? Can't be much worse than side A.

Then why couldn't the Republicans find a better candidate to represent their values? I identify more with *stated* conservative values. I believe in fiscal responsibility, I believe in smaller Federal government and more local control, I believe in family and that a leader should be honest. I believe in conservative change, where changes are implemented slowly in order to analyze their true impact. I believe we can have a good quality of life and economic growth with environmentally sensitive policies.
I hear the Republican party talk about these things, but as the old saying goes, "actions speak louder than words."

Where do any of us get when we can't stomach either candidate?
