By the way, I'm not saying the rioters should be 'excused'. They should be prosecuted for rioting and throwing rocks. All I'm saying is that both sides were at fault, and the ****'s shouldn't be allowed to hide behind the constitution when their intentions are to effectively deny the constitution to a segment of the population.

While the **** gorup may have been peaceful, their message was not. When the Black Panthers gathered peacfully, they were broken up because they appeared and sounded militant. Same with these morons; if you are spreading a message of hate, you are not afforded the right to spread that message. They talked about keeping black people away from them, they complained about the imagined deficiencies of a whole race, and did so in an area where they KNEW they would illicit a response...that's not free speech or peacifully gathering, that's posturing for a **** fight.
If you threaten someone in a bar, and never swing, you can be arrested for assault. These ***** were threatening blacks in a black neighborhood in a very insidious and fundamental way, and in my mind they gave up their rights to free speech and public gathering when they express the idea that they don't believe african americans should have those very same rights.
Where do you draw the line between inciting a riot and gathering peacfully? Rock stars have been accused of inciting riots just by showing up someplace too small to handle their fans and telling them to mosh, etc... These guys are at least as guilty as that.

* NOTE: These numbers only include outright murders, but keep in mind that some 18M civilians and 17M soldiers died in the European War. That's 35,000,000 deaths which can probably be blamed on Hitler to one extent or another.

I do, however, think the ****'s presence in the black community was incindiary, and as such, being as they did not have a permit to assemble, should have been arrested for inciting violence (Oh statute 2917.01)

In that sense they are alike. But to compare the two is asinine. There is no comparison.
