Wouldn't be surpirsed to see this in more than the local news. Read the newspaper article too, the kid really didn't do anything to desearve the treatment.

I dunno...
The kid seem to be turning demands by the police into a debate about human rights. He's screaming at the top of his lungs to corral the other pinkos to his side. The police are just trying to deal with the situation. The police deal with this **** all the time and react to situations similarly. When they react to street thugs they may use the taser. Passers just look away in shame of what's become of the person's now-criminal life. But when it happens in a UC campus everyone is a law student all of the sudden.
When the police tell you to do something you can't revert to your protester or civil disobedience handbook. In 5:27-6:18 of the footage he's clearly refusing to stand. And although he may be dazed by the stuns, he's making no noises or gestures that he is in pain. I've seen people on fire or shot stand back up. Just stand pinko and settle it at the station or wherever... now you've got a whole other set of problems to deal with.

They didn't have a problem carrying him out without him standing in the end. Plus, did you read the article? He was asked to leave, and was leaving. Then the cop grabed him, and he said let go. Then they shocked him. Completely unnecesary...yeah, he should have stood up. But the cops initiated the issue since he was already leaving (doing as he was asked/told) when they put hands on him.
His remarks about the patriot act and all that were out of place for sure...but I have no idea how I'd react if I got tazered for doing what I was told, so I can't really blame the guy.

Yeah I read the article. Not surprised that I felt like I did when I was attending my sister-in-laws graduation at NYU when reading their quotes or watching the film. "Hey mister, stop that!" "Hey mister, I want your badge number" "That's abuse of power, mister."
Have you ever been arrested or escorted before? I think it's SOP for police, security, bouncers, whatever to manually assist by clasping onto you. It gives them control. It's not like it's that big of a deal for them to do so... they don't want your number and aren't going to rape you. They just happen to do it to a pinko with a set of lungs. Shame on them?
I've been escorted and cuffed before and I never made a scene. Screaming at the top of your lungs may not be physical but it's a clear indication of not willing to cooperate or what’s to come. So the police responded. He got tased the first time after that and then blamed the patriot act? Shortly after that he said "f-you" to the police. It could of ended there but nope! Civil disobedience FTL!
And for the record i've been tasered, gassed and pepper sprayed. I still did not react like this clown.

Whatever, I'll try to follow up on this and see what happens to the cops and the student. And I'm not sure if you noticed, but he was already handcuffed when they tazered him...to me that's completely over the top...

Watch 2:40 to 3:16. The guy is clearly not respnding after about 30 demands for him to stand. Then they use the taser again and all the students behind are like "**** you, mister!" "hey mister, stop that!" He sure moved his feet when they tased him again.

I'm just curious about something you said though...you're against all forms of civil disobedience? Anti Ghandi? Anti KingJr? Or do you just think that in this case his rights weren't pressing enough to use it...

Yeah, and then they carry him out any way at the end. Which is what I was sure was supposed to happen in these cases...denying that the cops were trigger happy is rediculous.
I agree with this, they should have used pepper spray instead. It has a lasting effect that forces to you cooperate.

Think about the police in this case. Sure, the students are up in arms because they're students too and would never fathom hurting a cop. That, or they personally know the guy resisting. When you scream you're showing resistance and signs of violence like it or not... the police have a right to protect themselves when doing their job. They have no idea what this clown is capable of or if he has friends inside the building willing to fight back in his defense.

I'd just like to know if the kid is really a student there.
As well, i'd like to hear the statements of involved officers.
It ought to be a laugh.

i like how when the students asked for badge numbers(which police have to give if asked for) they were threatened with the tazer....that is a f*cking abuse of power, although it doesn't have sh*t to do with the patriot act.
