Not stupid at all. Are american IDEALS only for non-Americans when it suits are needs? This is why I cannot stand American foreign policy and how it is inconstant conflict with American ideals. We want to bring justice to the world but we happily screw anyone who gets in the way of our prosperity or safety. If you want democracy and you want justice, you have to roll with the punches... or stop being a hypocrite and admit you want to be a world despot.

Maybe you mean the fabric of society that is based upon fear. We don't need terrorists for that. We are afriad all the time. Weren't killer bees supposed to be inundating North America by now? How about West Nile? What about California dropping into the ocean? Or nuclear holocaust? Or Communists? Or AIDS? Two buildings drop and its like evil and fear are 2 things we've never known before. Terrorism actually feeds the fabric of our society.

So your ideals are not really ideals. They are whims that hold as it suits your fears. OK.

Why is this fundamental idea so hard for you to grasp? What did you expect from a group of people set on destroying our very way of life? Equality? I feel like i'm taking crazy pills and you're the captain!

 

I understand what you are saying. But they are not destroying our way of life. I'll ask you again, what the hell does that mean? What exactly have they destroyed? What are they doing that is any worse than the "ways of life" that we have destroyed throughout the world in the last 100 years? Why is what they do to us so different than how we bully everyone who doesn't follow our policies or impedes our economic desires? Why is it so different? They aren't following any rigorous code of conduct? Neither do we, and you're advocating it.

They haven't destroyed anything yet but they are that much closer to doing so as a suspected terrorist than any average joe will ever be. Why take the risk on freeing such fanaticism when the blueprint for Jihad is already there? If it wasn't already there then you'd be in Cuba as a suspected terrorist too. There's just not enough evidence to solidify anything at this point. Why give them the opportunity to prove themselves as terrorists? This is my point and exactly why our government wants to keep them forever. Doing otherwise has far too many risks and contradicts our dealing with terrorism.
