How old are you?

My children will never do mandatory community service, unless it's court ordered.

I'm all for doing volunteer work when it's on a voluntary basis.
But, colton, when the gov't says you have to work at a soup kitchen for 8 hrs in order to graduate, that's wrong.

When the gov't does anything other than protect us from invasion, protect me from you/you from me, the gov't is grossly exceeding it's pay grade.

They don't even have to protect me from you, the 2nd amendment lets me do that myself.

This thread reminds me of something...

While an amusing cartoon, it is a drastic oversimplification of two ultimately meaningless terms. I'm more inclined to side with Rousseau, however: "All men are born free, and everywhere we are in chains." Your freedom is not given to you by any one, by any thing, or by any organization -- it is inherent to your nature. Everything past that is a limitation of your liberty placed upon you by an outside force.

While that is certainly a by-product of the right to bear arms, it is not the intention of it to provide for that. The second amendment is about the prevention of tyranny of government.

That's why I always get annoyed at people who buy guns and then proclaim that they're exercising their second amendment right. Mother****er, you're buying a gun because you like to shoot **** -- when you take up arms against a tyrannical government, then you're using your second amendment rights.

If I were to go down to the state capitol, by myself, and start a revolution, it would fail in quick order.
Now, if you and I could get some otehrs involved, we may stand a chance.

I guess I'm a coward.
