No State Funding for Bay Bridge

Well, it looks like Arnie's nuts finally dropped.
One of his peons said, "The Bay Area is going to have to pay for it themselves."

Seems like the Bay Area Socialists decided that since they weren't paying for the project, they might as well aim high. $750 million is now $1.8 BILLION!

There's only one thing better than spending a lot of money, and that's spending a lot of someonelse's money!
You can read the whole article Here.

My first reaction to this was, "great, the people using the bridge should be the ones to pay for it, if they don't like it, they can move closer to work."
But then I started thinking more about it: Us bay area socialists provide water to Southern California. Us bay area socialists pay a lot of tax dollars which get spent outside the bay area for things like schools in small towns and building roads all across the state. We refine much of the states fuel. If you start to say locals are responsible for paying 100% of their projects, it is a slippery slope which should logically lead to locals NOT paying for things which are not local.

As for the budget over run, that happens with every single government project and is not unique to the bay area, or California. It is a sympton of inefficient big government and it is very frustrating.

if they want to play that sort of game we can sit back and watch the greater LA area turn into a dried up waste land

I wonder if this issue will renew discussions of splitting the state in two. My mom used to talk about that quite a lot in the 70's...

There is some mystical source of fresh water in SF that is supplying SoCal? News to me. The people who use the bridge should pay for it. I'm boycotting that armpit of a city for the forseeable future, so no problem here.
