Can I clarify the democrat/liberal spin on this? Bush was warned that the levees might be TOPPED (not massive structural failure), and that Brown was already engaged with local DOD resources. The only clear warning I've seen quoted was vague to say the least, "I don't think any model can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not but that is obviously a very, very grave concern," Mayfield told the briefing."

So, Bush must just hate black people.

Sorry for bringing you back to the pee and rubbing your nose in it .

To this day I have no EARTHLY idea how people can still like Bush? How can they defend him when all he has done is tarnish this great country of ours.

I can't find the article that 'broke' the videotape news nor the video itself. As far as I can tell, the warning was more along the lines of 'The levees will be topped and may break' as opposed to your supposition that the warning was 'The levees might be topped'...

Besides, that's the WHOLE point of what I'm saying in this thread. After the levees broke the admin and Bush said they had NO IDEA that would happen. Clearly, they had a pretty good idea of it...

Ask Helladumb, even after hella has admitted that Bush is NOT a conservative and hella claims to be one, and after all this crap that Bush obviously lied and told half-truths about, hella still defends Bush as if they were lovers.

Bush absolutely knew. It was clear that the chance of levees breaking was both very likely and imminent.

HAHAHAAHAHAHA you Bush-haters are idiots. There are plenty of valid quams with the guy, but the evidence is showing that Bush's actions and statements pertaining to those actions in the Katrina matter pass under scrutiny.

Turns out the LA Governor told Bush the levies were safe:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060303/.../katrina_video

"WASHINGTON - In the hectic, confused hours after Hurricane Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast, Louisiana's governor hesitantly but mistakenly assured the Bush administration that New Orleans' protective levees were intact, according to a new video obtained by The Associated Press showing briefings that day with federal officials."

Yeah, I don't remember him taking any action the few days after our nation was ATTACKED on our OWN soil. He's done a lot more than people give him credit for.

It's called ignorance. Nobody knows what's going on behind closed doors and everybody likes to armchair quarterback.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Are you calling going into a Iraq a good thing? You call not catching the person responsible for 9/11 a good thing? You call not being a leader when others failed in LA a good thing? Do you call the national debt a good thing? Do you call our horrible world relations a good thing? Do you call falling further and further behind in education a good thing? Do you call outsourcing jobs a good thing? Do you call an economy that is getting worse and worse a good thing? Do you call a Army that is getting shafted a good thing? War on terrorism, thats a joke. And the list goes on and on!

Go ahead name the things that he has done that people don't give him credit for. Mentioning 9/11 as if that gives him leway for the crap that followed is total and utter bs, especially considering how him and his adminstration twisted the facts to enter a war that we should of never entered.

Amen amen amen!!!

I laugh at people who continue tro praise Bush's name. He is, by action alone, one of the top 3 worst presidents in our nation's history. And in the post-WWII era, he is arguably the most incompetent, inept leader of a 1st world country.

I would take Gore--gay lisp, mountain beard, and all--over Bush anyday.

Yes, I think outsourcing certain jobs is a good thing, I do remember the stock market hitting it's all-time high's during Bush's administration (not saying the economy is the best it's ever been, but it'ss not worse and worse). War on terror is just as much a joke as the war on drugs and that crap, but they're doing something. I support the wire tapping. I happen to like my Tax cut as well. As far as the Army getting shafted, I don't know as much about all those aspects as most the people on here, so I have no place to say anything. He should have done some more from NOLA, but I can't name any specifics because I don't really remember what happened right after.

Bush is not the only one to blame for the national debt. Since '83 it has been steadily increasing:

Source

Of course after 2001, it went up substantially. That's what happens when you're fighting two wars.

I'm not totall defending Bush. But really, I think he's not such a bad guy. I think he would gain some very needed popularity points if he did admit to some mistakes and what not. Do I think Iraq was necessary? Not entirely, but I don't think it's an entirely bad thing that we did go in and remove Saddam (a threat).

I think things in this country need to calm down quite a bit. This country is going through a lot. I do think that Bush needs to bring some focus back home. Not to the poor and homeless, that's not what I mean. I mean focus on the country, get some stability and control here.

On the contrary, the facts have cleared Bush's actions as they come out with exception of the Iraq. Did you see the last Katrina link I pasted?

This country has too many layers of bureaucracy (slow response), too many illegals (education woes), and too much PC crap in the schools (teachers can't punish kids in classrooms so majority of students victimized by few), and a lack of a single cohesive culture (we don't even have a national language).

My quams with Bush is for acting like a liberal and not fixing the causes of our problems.
