This analagy doesnt work at all, because there arent many inter-sibling couples out there asking that they should also recieve the rights of other married couples. And hey, if they're not gay, I'd bet they still have a bettre chance at getting through the system and getting married. esp. if it's a half or step sibling.

Let me summarize your mentality:
Gays who oppose Civil Unions/ Gay Marriage= Hypocrites
Straights who oppose " "= Homophobes
Sodomy=Normal
Incest=Nobody approves of that!!! Yucko!

And as for mr. mayor- you think he is openly against gay marriage when he tries to pick up other fudgepackers at the gay bar? I'm sure he avoids that issue completely, as to insure his chance at bringing home a nice bunghole. But when he's back to work- he can put on this anti gay-marriage show just for conservative support. That's what you call hypocrisy.
I'm not pro-gay marriage- I'm just not so dead-set at preventing a minority from gaining the rights everyone else has. I see it quite silly that people are putting so much time and effort into making other people's lives more difficult, when it has absolutely no effect on themselves.

let me clarify- gays who openly oppose gay marriage during the day, then are quiet about it when picking up same-sex partners, are hypocrites.
The second part is an assumption on my part, but I feel it's a safe one. Unless there really are that many gays who also are against gay marriage/civil unions, which I doubt, and which your entire argument happens to rest upon.

If I go out each night and sleep with a different woman, does that mean I can't be opposed to polygamy? (I could only handle 3 different women at a time, but that's besides the point

Personally, I have nothing agains civil unions for equivalent partner rights. Just keep in mind that the majority of our society "tolerates" homosexuality, but they don't "accept" it.

Hella, I see your point. You don't have to be 'pro-marriage' just because you like to sleep with women. However, wouldn't you think it would be strange if a straight male publically condemned heterosexual marriage, regardless of his sexual practices? The hypocrisy I see in this case is not that he 'should' condone gay marriage because he's gay. It's that he shouldn't be devoutly against something that would give him the choice to marry or not. If gay marriages were allowed, but he didn't want to get married, he's no worse off. So why would he be so against the idea? Because he's got to tow the party line, which in this case makes him hypocritical.

As a married man, I often desire women other than my wife. I am completely against polygamy and adultery, so I avoid compromising situations. Other men with the same values cheat, though they know it's wrong.
Does that make us hypocrites? I don't think so.
Part of the human condition is temptation to do things that harm us.
This guy is supposedly bisexual, but he apparently believes that homosexuality or gay unions are wrong. What's wrong with that?

(as for your adultery analagy)--->
I still don't see how one can uphold certain values with actions and words, then go commit an action that goes completely against those values.... wait, unless you're a....
come on, hella, finish it for me...
He doesn't just 'beleive' gay marriage is wrong, he is in a position of power, speaking out and passing legislation against it. As MVWRX has already tried to chisel through your skull, THIS is why he's a hypocrite.

n : a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold
So you think he wants to marry another man? That's a leap.

Yes, that is hypocritical. Almost perfect to the definition you posted above.

At this point, the word 'hypocrit' is irrelevant. Ok, maybe he's not technically a hypocrit. Instead, he's an idiot...or a tool...or a puppet...but we can all agree he's being a total dumba$$, even if it's not in a strictly hypocritical manor.
Edit: the actions mentioned by ericdared above are definatly hypocritical.

You're refusing to understand, as always. You think he professes those beliefs to his gay partners? I doubt it, and unless he does, I'd say that's a little hypocritical.
