Mandatory life without parole 4 sex crimes against children.

While I understand the nature and intent of this new law, a bullet to the dome would be cheaper. Also I think this law was rushed threw without much long term thought. guess we should get ready to ruin a bunch of 20 years old lives if they bang their 17 year old girlfriends.

Ya a bullet is much cheaper than life in prison.

I think there are something like 3 states currently (or within the last couple years) that still use death by fireing squad (if i remember correctly).

No one in the US uses firing squads, it's all lethal injection now. And I'm pretty sure Texas is still one of the only states that actually executes death row inmates. And it's just in one county or something....

Anyways whatever happened to public humiliation/execution for sex offenders? I think that would be a better deterrence than 3 square meals a day and a place to stay for life.

The people in Utah have the option of the firing squad if they were sentenced before the law changed

Last time I was in Seattle (5+ years ago) hanging was still an allowable option, although no longer used. Just because we don't use the old methods anymore doesn't mean we can't, unless some law changed that and I'm unaware of it's existence, which is very likely.

3.Ronnie Lee Gardner was executed by five anonymous officers on June 18, 2010. Gardner chose firing squad because he believed it is swifter and more humane and less likely to become botched than lethal injection.

Idaho banned execution by firing squad in a law which took effect on July 1, 2009
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executi...#United_States
And thats still pretty recent

more here about what states allow what types of punishment.

http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/methods-execution

And it does say that Ut does not allow it anymore BUT it can be still used on inmates who chose it as their option before they changed the law

Inmates who selected execution by firing squad prior to May 3, 2004, may still be entitled to execution by that method.
