I wouldn't be too corcerned about anything Howard Dean said about me. Some of his theories should have him admitted to a mental hospital.

I liked Dean 1000 times better than Kerry.

 

For the love of God I hope your disappointed. I don't understand how you can call Bush unqualified and then hope Dean wins. He needs to continue running his health clinic and stick with what he knows.

 

Some shiz about Howard:

Elected for five terms straight as governor of vermont.

Ballanced the budget for eleven years without a mandate from the legislative branch.

Insured 98% of vermont's citizenry.

Signed a bill ensuring equal civil rights for Vermont's gay citizens.

A+ rating from the NRA.

None of that is a feat in a state like Vermont. It's a little un-diverse if you ask me.

 

It's basically saying "Oooh, you met howard dean, cool, I met the Pres." aka showing someone up.

 

I bet he ment more than that...like how everyone accuses Jr of being brain dead just like everyone accuses Howard Dean of being a completely leftwing-brainwashed idiot...





either way though, the attack was petty.

 

Considering the fact that there are less than 450,000 people employeed in Vermont and that there are 471016 persons over the age of 18 in the state all of them having health care is not an amazing accomplishment. If you want to evaluate Dean on his fiscal policy notice that he didn't even undertake a successful plan for funding his campaign and he has little experience in foriegn politics. This combination makes him woefully unqualified for taking on our largest nation debt ever and a country immersed in international relations (even if he wants to play isolationist he'll still have to round up the troops which is no simple task).

The main reason that I don't like Dean (as a Presidential candidate) is that he seems to me (opinion) to be more of populist. This is evident in his middle-of-the-road political agenda and I personally don't want a centrist in charge (John McCain included). I do however, appreciate his creation of the civil union and hope that he manages to allow it for the whole country should he become President. He also (and admittedly) has basically no answer to the rising nation debt which will be a key voting point for me personally. In different times I think he'd be a good candidate but not with a huge nation debt and the war on terrorism.

I would just like to note, that there was not one state where so great a percentage of people were insured (not even close)

There was not one state that had passed same sex parity legislation at the time.

There was not a state that had a ballanced budget for those entire eleven years, IIRC.

In fact, while Dean ballanced Vermont's budget, Bush was running a shortfall between $610M and $750M..Bush's deficit carried right over into the white house. I can see no reason to believe that Dean's brand of fiscal responsibility wouldn't have carried over as well.

At any rate, Dean won't be running for the nomination in 2008. He's busy reforming the party apparatus as DNC chair.

 

In reality, Vermont is one of the easiest states you could possibly be Governor of. And for the record he got his first term through default and was not elected to it initially. Again, I have to point out that the insurance/employment rate in Vermont has always been exceptionally high and was so long before he was ever Governor. I'm not saying he is a bad politician, I just wouldn't vote for him. He has done some very noteworthy things in his career. I think he would serve the country best as heading the health care dept. as he is already a practicing physician.
