I think I'm starting to like Iran's new leader...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051219/...iran_music_ban

TEHRAN, Iran - Hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has banned all Western music from Iran's state radio and TV stations — an eerie reminder of the 1979 Islamic revolution when popular music was outlawed as "un-Islamic" under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Today, though, the sounds of hip-hop can be heard blaring from car radios in Tehran's streets, and Eric Clapton's "Rush" and the Eagles' "Hotel California" regularly accompany Iranian broadcasts.

No more — the official IRAN Persian daily reported Monday that Ahmadinejad, as head of the Supreme Cultural Revolutionary Council, ordered the enactment of an October ruling by the council to ban all Western music, including classical music, on state broadcast outlets.

When are we going to outlaw hip-hop?

You are really affraid of being free, huh...you must be, otherwise you'd never be so enthraled by the idea of refusing people their personal freedoms.

For the same reasons psoper and lojasmo don't join the Taliban?

You guys are blowing this way out of proportion. All Hella is saying is that he agrees with the idea as he does not care for a lot of the crap on the airwaves. He's not condoning Iran's ******* government and overall society. He even added a winking smiley as requested.

yes I saw the winking smiley, hence my rolling eyes smiley

but if you agree with censorship, you lose out on shows like Chapelle Show, Family Guy, The Simpsons, etc.....that push the limits of comedy and politics, and make life a little easier to laugh at.

To be honest, I was initially appalled when I read the headline, but then I started imagining life without hip-hop.

One consequence of freedom is that people are truly free to make horrible decisions that affect others. I'm honestely for these freedoms, but there are many instances in which limits on such freedoms actually would improve the quality of life for the masses.

Anyway.....

False analogy.

I have never expressed admiration for the actions or positions of the taliban.

I like positive hiphop, but most of it is utter crap.
