That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear there was a confrontation of that type that you had to be involved in. I'm with you on the national pride issue; it seems completely illogical to be saying you're proud of a country that you left because it treated you like s***...

They sink their talons into whatever they can feel proud about. They find one or two similarities with Americans and beat them to death. The fact Americans enjoy mexican food immensely is one of them, Americans enjoying Tequila is another, and a few spring breakers taking vacations down there is the last one I can think of. What else is there, really?
Same thing for Puerto Ricans except their food sucks. Substitute food for the occasional good baseball rookie in the MLB and what else is there as well?
Here’s the thing... it’s all about pride and being different. You have to remember that not one of those people outside the Walmart is an illegal immigrant (at least this is a fair assumption assuming they’re young and aren’t working their asses off to make ends). Their uncle Pablo that's fresh off the border may be an immigrant but the fact of the matter is they’re citizens of this country and are speaking out of their asses on this subject just to cling to their ancestry, and to be different from everyone else.
The other annoying factor is the whole "union strike" mentality. Telling kids and weak minded self segregating ingrates to stay home from school and thier parents to stay home from work to support cheating and breaking law is a great message to send the rest of the country. With this type of mentality these people will continue to be as stupid as they are.

I like what this one guy had to say on that blog:

I have no bias because my dad was Irish and my mom is from Honduras (and as a legal immigrant who became a citizen and votes Republican she is appalled by the protests!)

Yeah **** the illegals. And **** the Mexicans that won't learn English.
I was waiting at the Jack in the Box drive through off of Fair Oaks, and next door is a Midas, they had one sign that said something like "Midas tune and blah blah $29.95", then they had another sign that said a bunch of Spanish crap and $49.95, the second sign didn't have english on it at all, so how the **** am I supposed to get that deal that's only advertised in Spanish?
On another subject, doesn't "La Raza" mean "The Race"? How more racist can you get? How would people respond if I started a group called "The Race" that pushed breaking of the law and taking over Mexico for only whites? This makes me pissed!

La Raza is almost the opposite of the **** party; I'm not saying it's a great group or organization or whatever, but it represents people who have been oppresed by dictators not dictatorships. At some point, La Raza pretty much means democracy (the people should get what's right for the majority of the people...). In this case, 'La Raza' really shouldn't come into play, so I see your point, but the origins of the movement are about sticking up for human rights in countries where the leadership doesn't beleive in human rights.
