Just got a NAVADMIN (Navy message) stating that due to lack of funds, all transfers are going to be held until further notice.

I was supposed to transfer to the USS Ronald Reagan in May of this year, but as the Navy does not have money, they are not going to send me until the new fiscal year.

This scares me because what else are we cutting our money on within the military?

 

The defense budget was increased so it may be that the Navy overspent their budget for FY09.

Where will you be stationed while you're on hold?

 

Customer Service Desk Monterey. Great area, but I am currently doing 5 peoples jobs at once as they wont hire anyone.

 

oh, and the fiscal year for hte Navy is October-September.

 

Damn man! From May, to "we don't know," to maybe as late as October, to after October?

So no one is being transferred to their next duty station? I wonder if anything similar is happening in the other branches. Lack of funding for things like this in the middle of the fiscal year is weird. Any budget cuts wouldn't be effective until the FY09.

Keep us posted if you manage to find out what happened to all of the funds. I doubt this would be reported in the civilian media.
