How about putting Saddam back in power?

Bush could just re-instate him and say "My Bad, sorry about the whole WMD thing. I guess we misunderestimated you ."

So how 'bout it?

I was actually thinking about this the other day.

A good, strong, dictator would solve all the problems in Iraq. Why don't we just do what we did forever in Latin/South America?

If we gave him a pardon it wouldn't take long to go sour if we put him back in power. We slaughtered his kids for crying out loud.

Good point. I've heard some talk show hosts discussing the ludicrous option, but it'd only be a matter of time for it to backfire.

I'm just wondering why Saddam is getting so much positive press coverage... it's like someone's trying to make a grandfatherly figure out of him....wierd.

Only because he's bonded with those that are guarding him. Savage dictator or not, Saddam is still human and still in need of human contact and relations. But he's not to be underestimated. He knows that he can fall victim to social needs and win a few hearts in the process. If anyone knows how the media works it's him.

As near as I can tell, the Iraqis deserve him.
