that being said, something strange did happen here 2 weeks ago. At the two stations I saw, prices dropped 40-50 cents per gallon. At one station, a few days later (when I finally needed to get gas ) it was back up to 3.14 (was at 2.64 I believe) and then its been slowly dropping since then. At the other station its sitting at 2.67. these are 91 oct. prices of course...all I really pay attention to

 

If you compare the amount of profit per gallon of gas vs. the profit made from the shoes you are wearing you would probably poop out of your eye sockets. Even if they made a profit of 4 or 5 times the cost at the pump, gas still has the smallest profit margins. Your pimp diggity Nike Jordans are made for 3 or 4 bucks. What is the profit on a pair of Jordans? About 50 times the cost of production.

I know I know you use gas all the time but you only buy shoes every once in awhile. What do you pay for a Big Mac at McDonalds? $2.50??? How much does it cost? about 25 cents. So profit is 100 times the cost. Not too shabby for a crappy burger.

Everyone is always pissed off because they have to pay so much but they don't stop and look at what they pay for everyday things. How much does it cost to make a bar of soap? pretty much nothing-you get my point.

Exxon makes 8 billion....So what!!! Burger King makes 15 billion but nobody says anything about that, AND they have been making that much for along time.

 

I like third party, unbiased data preferably. That's why I asked for an alternate source. Liberal/Conservative webblogs aren't always too reliable because they usually don't cite their source.

Where does a fountain drink rate? I'd imagine material costs & overhead total less than a penny, even if you get 2 or 3 refills. Though we gladly pay ~$1.50 per.

 

What's funny is i want the prices to come down for my wallet... but I kind of want them to go up(maybe another "shortage") before the november elections so the D's have a better chance of evening out the house/senate
