Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has been subpoenaed to turn over personal records in an investigation into possible insider trading, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued the subpoena within the past two weeks, the newspaper reported, citing sources familiar with the probe. <skip>

Frist aides previously said he had been contacted by regulators but did not mention that he had received a formal request for documents, The Washington Post said.

Authorities are looking into Frist's recent sale of shares of hospital operator HCA Inc., co-founded by Frist's father and brother. The sales took place just days before HCA's stock price fell on a disappointing July 13 profit outlook.

The newspaper, citing sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Frist was expected to testify under oath about what he knew about HCA's financial standing in the weeks before the stock sales.

 

Unreal. If he is indicted, this is arguably the worst 2 years that any party has ever endured.

Where are the family values?

 

This is a snippet from an article I read by David Batstone, a fairly well-known liberal Christian. It relates to the current evangelical movement and their ties with certain parties.

"To be frank, I do not expect Focus on the Family, The 700 Club, or any other influential media network of religious conservatives to raise a red flag about political corruption in the Republican Party any time soon. The specter of political power seems too enticing, too close within reach, to be held back by traditional values such as honesty and integrity."

 

You do realize that indictments mean just about nothing, right? convictions are important.

 

Actually, indictments mean that a judge has deemed the evidence worthy enough for closer inspection. That is something in my book.

You have to wonder how much this is hurting us as taxpayers. Quote from a recent article on WSJ about Rove:
"Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald walked into the grand jury area with Rove early Friday."

Im assuming we are paying the bill for the special counsel, and every bill for every other degenerate politician who not only breaks our laws, but then obtains the best counsel at the expense of us.
