Yes perrin's nice. Uppipe, turboback and ecu flash are usually first. If you upgrade the turbo then for driveability I'd say a vf23,30 or 34. They all spool fairly quick. Vf22 or garrett conversion for big power. All these will require fuel system upgrades too. Just a little info.

first mods should be the FREE mods. Silencer removal.... and the 3/16th" coupling. those should be your first. from there you might wanna do ecu and uppipe. the stock turbo is so0 small you might wanna think about getting a bigger one. dont forget about your down pipe and your exhaust after that. ohh yeah dont forget about your suspension.
and brakes

If you can get away with replacing your uppipe with a catless up, then that's the first thing to do. You can get turboback systems with cats and stay legal there but it is more expensive. On the intake side I don't know about Cali. but there are no laws here against i/c piping or bov/dv. The most simple mod you can do is get a K&N high flow air filter. Maybe get a water spray kit for your i/c .I don't know the Cali. laws, but heard they can be harsh, so I can't help to much for totaly legal mods.

The Turbo xs exhaust systems allow you to run a cat if you choose to. The turbo xs high flow cat will keep you emissions friendly even in california and will not cause check engine lights.

Look in the exhaust section of this module:

Hi there...

All aftermarket uppipes are going to be catless. Removing the cat in your uppipe has no effect on your ability to pass emissions. The cats that do the filtering of hydrocarbons from your cumbustion mixture are after the turbo in the downpipe and the center section of your stock exhaust.

You can get rid of the cat in your uppipe and enjoy the gains that this provides without having to worry about smog tests, check engine lights or anything like that.

You should also try if possible to do your exhaust at the same time to avoid doing the same work twice.

The exhaust is what we reccomend that customers take care of first because be removing the two exhaust cats completly or by reaplacing the two stock cats with one high flow cat in a system like the turbo xs you gain a substantial amount of power. 28-30WHP in most cases.

Keep in mind that if you keep one cat in your exhaust even though it is a high flow cat you will pass emissions, and you will not get check engine lights.

As for uppipes the TXS is a great unit. Very heavy duty cast iron construction and excellent for the high temp and pressure environments that the uppipe is subjected too.

The perrin uppipe is nice as well, yet its a little more expensive then the TXS. We currently have both on sale actually and the fact of the matter is that both pipes will do the job just fine.

Give us a call if you have any other questions. We are behind the phones all day and would love to chat one on one so that you can get all of this modification madness staight in your head.

Thanks again, and let us know if you have questions.

One cat, ceramic coated twin dump, turboback. I'm running the dp03 and it's amazing.
