BTW, dumb, I worked FULL time to get through school and my only transpo was a POS motorcycle. School's more expensive now, I don't know how kids do it.
Grow up? So I'm immature to tell people to bear down and finish school?
You must have gone to University of Pheonix or some other institution of lower learning. =)

Think student loans stink? It's not as bad as working a ****e job.

It was a blanket statement, not specifically at you. I do suggest that you or anyone else out there always apply for the grants that are out there. Those who support themselves and have the greatest financial need have a high chance of qualifying for them.

And if they don't? What then oh well to bad, they **** out of luck? Education is a GOOD thing that our government should help lower cost. They will get the money returned by people having higher paying jobs. Also the more educated a person is the less likely they will need help from the government in the future. So its a great idea for the government to help people go to college. I don't see why us asking that they help us, is a sign of weakness/lazyness. Its a sign that its costing WAY to much.

By the way esracer, my friend goes down to school in Corpus Christi, been down there to visit several times. What major are you? Oh and when you transfer out to a University, your gpa starts over again. So, I would advise you to "bite the bullet" and just pay everything with loans once your in. It might hurt to have that huge debt, but having a 4.0 from UT or where ever you choose to go is looked upon highly by employers.

I'm 100% behind those who value education and will break their backs getting one. I see no reason to push the stupid and lazy through our schools when they are backlogged with people who actually want an education.

No matter what your opinion, you've already proved time and again that your education was a waste. =)..... that's sarcasm, by the way.

Like I stated whats wrong with helping people have it easier to go through college? Or wait do you think its a better learning enviroment for someone to be stressed out and having lack of sleep from working two jobs? Yeah you got a solid case there buddy.

And your not someone that should be talking about stupid people.... thats sarcasm by the way.

I'm going into mechanical engineering most likely and transfering out to A&M College Station next year, my 2 years here will be up, so it's time to move on to the real thing.

understood, I know it's in my luckiness that I can really get into some of those grants now because of my parental situation, so we'll see how I do in that department.

I would apply to more schools than A&M just to be on the safe side. Also try UT no matter how much I hated the tuition, they actually have a good engineering program. One of my best friends is in it. Either way good luck.

My buddy's wife(GF at the time) was attending nursing school & her parents were not going to help her; she was 20 or 21 at the time.
Financial Aid Dept advised her to get married in order to receive some aid.
So they went to City Hall to get married.
The next year, Financial Aid Dept mailed her a letter informing her that because of her husband's income, her aid was being cut off.
When she asked the Financial Aid Dept for advice, they jokingly said that if she would divorce her husband, she would get even more aid than the year before.
So they went back to City Hall for a divorce.
