Which reminds me, I wonder how many gun fans can atually shoot their firearms well?

I have VERY limited pistol experience cause I don't currently own one, but I'm pretty good with a rifle and shotgun.

He was a damn good shot

I am as well, (shot and eagle scout) and I don't shoot too much. If I had done so more regularly, I'd definitely be shooting competition for a while now.

Too bad, I'm still a damn good shot.
He also had a brain tumor....

One of the many vices of being single. I can only justify weapons for myself.

this one made me chuckle

24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows.

It's amazing how different news medias have virtually the same information but have starkly different ways of presenting it. Anyway, enjoy the read....

Obama: 'I have not backed off' on assault weapons ban

...

The White House was quick to blunt comments Attorney General Eric Holder made earlier this year supportive of pursuing a reinstatement, but Obama said Thursday that he has not changed his position.

"I have not backed off at all from my belief that the assault weapons ban makes sense," Obama said, adding that he is not "under any illusions that reinstating that ban would be easy."

Instead, the president said his administration is focused on enforcing laws that are already on the books, like targeting guns that are illegally smuggled over the border that are "helping to fuel extraordinary violence" as the drug trade soars.

Obama Gets Gun-Shy

...

But Obama and top White House aides have all but abandoned the issue. Emanuel helped orchestrate passage of the original assault-weapons ban when he worked in the Clinton White House. Now he and other White House strategists have decided they can't afford to tangle with the National Rifle Association at a time when they're pushing other priorities, like economic renewal and health-care reform, say congressional officials who have raised the matter. (According to his office, Emanuel couldn't be reached for comment because he was observing the Passover holiday.) A White House official, who asked not to be identified discussing internal strategy, says, "There isn't support in Congress for such a ban at this time." Ben LaBolt, a White House spokesman, says, "The president supports the Second Amendment, respects the tradition of gun ownership in this country, and he believes we can take common-sense steps to keep our streets safe," pointing to $2 billion in new funding for state and local law enforcement in the stimulus package.
