Democrats push draft on Bush... again.
Read this thread if you're confused about what happened to the draft bill before:

The only two people that voted for the bill of the 404 voters were Democrats! The person who purposed the bill, NY Democrat Rep. Charles Rangel, voted against it too!
So why is Kerry purposing this again if every Republican is strongly against it? Who's the one that talked about pre-emptive strike on North Korea again?

Kerry and his crew know that there's a large group that thinks Bush can and will implement the draft. He's obviously exploiting the 51 percent of adults age 18 to 29 believe Bush wants to reinstate the draft.

There is a "great potential of a draft" to replenish U.S. forces in Iraq (news - web sites) if President Bush (news - web sites) wins a second term, Democratic challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) said on a campaign stop in Iowa.
Bush said in the second presidential debate that there would be no revival of the military draft under any circumstances if he is re-elected. "We're not going to have a draft, period," the president said.

I think it is funny that Kerry is using the draft as a scare tactic when it was democrats who proposed it(2 senators from NY) and rebublicans who brought it to a vote. And to top it off did you know that Kerry was the one with a mandatory draft plan on his website(not sure if it is still there?) It was part of his 100 day Plan to change America.
"John Kerry Outlines Plan to Require Service for High School Students
Part of 100 days Plan to Enlist One Million Americans in National Service A Year
On September 11th, 2001, America experienced the most terrible and deadly attack in its history. John Kerry believes we need to think big and do better and get more young Americans serving the nation.
As part of his 100 day plan to change America, John Kerry will propose a comprehensive service plan that includes requiring mandatory service for high school students and four years of college tuition in exchange for two years of national service."-- from his web page

The idea of National service that you see on Kerry's website is more about community service than it is about military service. A draft and National Service are two very different animals. As I understand it you would have a choice to do either community or military service under Kerry's plan.
Something needs to be done though because American youth do not appreciate how good they have it nowadays. Do you think if we had another world war the citizens in this country would stand up to the threat like they did when Hitler was threataning the world? I doubt it...The men and women of that generation came together in a way that the world had never seen. They basically saved the planet....I just don't think the kids nowadays would have the same gumption when it came down to it. They expect to get everything and give nothing back in return.
About Kerry pushing the point about the draft, well that is exactly what politicians do. They find a thing that people care about it and they hammer it to make their opponent look bad. Nothing new there. Hell the republican campaign does the same thing with the BS about how unsafe we will be with Kerry as president. Fear Fear Fear!! Thats the only thing you hear from Bush and Co...
So president Bush said he wouldn't institute a draft eh? Well that holds a ton of weight. He also said he wouldn't nation build and that there were WMD's but that was all BS too. He's saying what the people want to hear because it is election time and that will help him get re-elected. You don't think the Republicans in Congress would support Bush if he said "we need more troops and the only way to do that is to re-instate the draft" Of course they would....They will all do whatever serves them at the time.
