I thought it was a politically savvy move to condemn all 527's. I doubt it was his own idea, though.

Some 527 group's are a bad thing IMHO.

And I agree with Helladumb that Bush was smart for denouncing ALL 527 ads. Bush even signed " the McCain-Feingold bill so don't forget that.

Before you say "what about free speech?" realize that these tax-exempt organizations are delivering an extremely biased message. They sugar coat one side of the cookie and completely disregard the other side.

They feed on the ignorant/lazy masses in between jerk-off & PS2 sessions and likewise to the busy blue-collared worker working 80+ hours a week. They look for news on the internet, stumble into a biased source and cast their biased vote.

It's the same thing as Iraq shutting down the Al-Jazeera Baghdad office for a month after being questioned on motive against OIF's cause. You just don't need that type of added "false pressure" in an already hairy situation.

I would rather have a list of un-biased facts for both candidates in order to educate these types of individuals... I'd rather have an educated voter cast a vote for Kerry or Bush based on hard evidence rather than what they read from MoveOn.org -or- Swiftboats for truth.

But alas... this is America and we're still over 60days out! *sigh*

Let me preface my thought with a little historical tidbit:

During the early 70s, the CIA made every attempt possible to oust Salvador Allende (the then Chilean socialist president). One of their favorite methods came about via the media: pamphlets, over the airwaves, etc... This is one of many examples

*****

In the US, it would be possible for other countries (wealthy Arab countries perhaps), to fund a media onslaught against campaigns that they look unfavorably upon. While I commend Bush for coming out against 527s, he should have put politics aside for one second, been the bigger man, and condemned the attacks made by the Swift Boat Vets.

FYI this has been happening since the beggining of time & has been the primary focus of 37F Psyops and Civil Affairs.

Although I agree with you, he wanted to see what type of reaction they'd get and take a stance afterward (see my first post). I'd like to say i'd come forward and be the "better man" but who's to say what you'd do when you're trying to stay in the Whitehouse.

yep
yep &
yep.

Here is a relatively decent site:
http://www.issues2000.org/default.htm

But most the ******* and work-a-holics won't have the time or motivation to seek out such information. At least the ******* most likely have access to the internet. lol
