[QUOTE=Oaf]WTF?!
Oh, that's right, a sober Republican killing a person with their car is so much worse than, say, a drunk Democrat (without a valid driver's license) killing a person with their car.
Well, you know, they never tested Laura for alcohol intoxication.
Also, Laura and her boyfriend were in separate cars. She killed him while they were driving two different vehicles.
Bit of a difference there.

It's not like she murdered the guy, or killed him on purpose. She ran a stop sign and got in an accident. OMGWTF, have we never heard of something like this? It happens all the time. This time it just happened to involve a future well-known woman.

Exactly. I can remember two car accident deaths in my high school that involved another known local (one a student). I went to school in the small town of Galt. **** is bound to happen like this. My dad’s good friend in high school (Ponderosa) got decapitated by a log sticking out of the back of a logging truck. My dad was behind them on a motorcycle and almost got killed. He bailed and spent a few days in the hospital. The driver of the logging truck was the father of a boy that was good friends of the dead kid as well.
Laura grew up in Midland, Texas in the early sixties. The population of the metropolitan area of the city was around 60,000 then. But Midland also has numerous rural areas spread out to the next city. Laura's high school and suburbs were located in one of these areas. An area where everyone knew everyone else. The only coincidence is that it happened to someone she was once close to. The fact that it happened and that it was someone she knew was almost a given.

Why are we arguing about a car accident?
Let's get back to the issue regarding Barbara Bush's statement. I chalk it up to old age and a partonizing, old-school approach to those impoverished and / or minority.

Our illustrious C in C's comment about his poor friend Trent Lott, who's old porch was damaged by the storm.
