Hearing about this crap really makes me sick. Do these people have no shame? I'm surprised they haven't designated a "free-speech" zone miles away from the hospital like they should.
Read the story. They get some of the wounded Veterans reactions. Even a man that lost two legs from a frag grenade is furious.

I often wonder what influences these types. My only theory is that they were raised by activist parents that did the very same thing in Vietnam. They heard stories on how their parents paraded outside government buildings, Veteran hospitals, etc. Then they realized there was much more to their motivation than solely activism. They understood that their parents really did it for the comradery and sense of belonging to a cause.
It made this newer generation want the same experience so much that they even yearned for war on a subconscious level. Yes, I really think so. They wanted it so much that they completely forgot the draft during Vietnam was the major influence during that time. In fact, the very idea of a volunteer force and freewill should completely spoil any means of protest for this newer generation. The draft during Vietnam was the only substantial backbone to their measly existence back then.
Think about it. If someone can volunteer in our Armed Forces and loose two legs, then these protesters should be as angry when someone at Walter Reed has a triple bypass. There shouldn't be any reason for them to not have signs reading "Eat here and die for McDonalds." Of course, they'll dwell on Bush's lie if you present that argument. Regardless, freewill exists at every stage prior to deploying to war. If it truly didn't exist then there shouldn't any statistics of desertions and soldiers going AWOL. Not one!

Aside from the story...I think your theory is a little off. Most people I know my age who's parents are liberal are actually very conservative themselves. And vice versa. Rebelion drives children much more than a longing to be similar to their parents...differentiation is much more key to development of self than assimilation.

I think it goes both ways. That said, my theory still makes sense and is certainly plausible. Besides, you can just replace the parental figures in my theory with any like-minded liberals from the past that modern liberals happen to idolize. Anyways, my father and grandfather are moderate conservatives like myself. Same thing holds true for most of my friends and their families I know have an interest in politics. The only person I can put my finger who’s Father is liberal would be subaruguru. Then again, subaruguru has a very strong relationship with his conservative grandfather, so...
I think your reasoning is better suited if we assume the parent’s political beliefs affected the child growing-up. Maybe a staunch conservative family founded on evangelical ideals that drove a teenager to rebellion, or liberal parents that never listened to their child because they were always high on pot and way too lenient to care?

that crosses lines for even me, but i would love to see more sources for the same story to see how much of a slant the orginal story has and to see if it is in fact valid.
