I'd just ask her. "So, are you blind or what?". I read an article about a local kid here in sac that is completely blind. He refuses to carry a stick or wear dark glasses. He relies completely on his other senses and "echolocation". They say you'd think he wasn't blind if you didn't notice his eyes. But he still runs into stuff like trees every now and then.

Actually just about every major news organization around reported on that little gaffe of Bush's. Is it relevant, of course not, but with Jr's approval rating so low still, every little stupid thing he does gets magnified. Should it be news, definitely not.

Oh, and btw Newsmax is a great source too! I didn't think it was possible to get any more of a right leaning spin on the news than FOX but Newsmax has them beat at that.

I think speedmunki has it when he said Bush is like the kids on Kids say the Darndest things. Every time he speaks I am waiting for the screw up. It is quite humorous that we have a president who seems to put his foot in his mouth constantly. Almost like "what is he going to say next?" N-u-clear?

He had not idea. It's more out of respect than anything. I'd take my sunglasses off when talking to the President, even if I hated him. Unfortunately for Bush he had a disorder. The journalist didn't seem to take offense so neither should anyone else.

 

The guy was really blind. I think it's ok to laugh. Yes, I'm a right wing wacko. However, every time I see Bush do something stupid, I can't complain. The truth is, I've done way worse and I don't even have cameras on me 24/7 like he does. I'm actually amazed at how good ANYONE is able to portray themselves when they're on our T.V.'s anytime they arn't locked away indoors. If you think this makes him an idiot,...get off your high horse...

 

I don't think anyone with half a brain is really taking offense. It just seems like another in a long line of on-camera goofs. Right there with "Brownie your doing a heck of a job!"

 

Actually he wasn't completely blind, just legally blind which is damn close. It just makes you ultra sensitive to light and can actually worsen your sight over time. I know Macular Degeneration really really well as my Mother, Uncle and two Aunts all have it in some form and my Uncle actually has the form of the disease that Wallsten has. Imagine going through life until 25 completely fine and healthy and then over the next 4 years your sight almost completely disappears. Luckily my Mother doesn't have it as bad as my 2 Aunts and my Uncle.

I don't think it makes him an idiot for saying it to him though. Like Salty said I wouldn't talk to the president with shades on and Wallsten never advertised it to him. Just a bit humorous.....

This is only not funny because it's not funny on the sacle of 'Bushisms.' If almost any other elected official had made this mistake it would have been evening news material. As it is, they only have so much time, so Dubya gets a pass most of the time now on his malapropisms.
