AL Gore: How to debate Bush

http://www.iht.com/articles/541119.html

My advice to John Kerry is simple: Be prepared for the toughest debates of your career. While George W. Bush's campaign has made "lowering expectations" into a high art form, the record is clear - he's a skilled debater who uses the format to his advantage. There is no reason to expect any less this time around. And if anyone truly has "low expectations" for an incumbent president, that in itself is an issue

Fair enough and true in these debates. The problem is that in TRUE debates, as in those held in colleges and speech organizations, he is aweful, as he repeats himself too often, and is slow when given "on the spot" questions. Since these debates do away wiith direct questions from one candidate to another, unfortunatly he won't have to worry about it. He does play very well, however to the layman who prefers conversational speach and a loose format. The irony of democracy.

And as a dumbass journalist put it, "Well he talks like me and billybob he is like one of us but the president." God what a idiot thing to say.

I personally don't want the president to be a "normal guy." FDR wasn't and average or normal guy. Eik wasn't normal, and neither was Lincoln. They were GREAT men.
