Adoptasniper.org UPDATE: *Please read if you'd like to contribute to care package*

http://www.adoptasniper.org/

A lot of men are being sent to Iraq and A-Stan without the proper equipment and tools needed to perform effectively. This organization accepts donations in order to supply snipers and other soldiers as needed. I know what it's like to buy needed equipment in preparation for a deployment in the amount of hundreds of dollars on a peanut salary. It can be quite scary to say the least and is an injustice to the servicemen that have already sacrificed and volunteered so much.

Just asking if you can cut and paste what I’ve written here and send this url (http://www.adoptasniper.org/donate.html) to your email contacts for a possible tax deductible contribution (they'll write a paper receipt for any amount).

C'mon... whether you support the war or not...give til it hurts.

If it's cool with management here, I'm sending in a $600 donation from i-club members.
If y'all want to chip in, fine.
If ain't cool, well, I'll still give the $600.

Salty... you got an addy for any active duty personnel in Iraq or A-stan?
My son's bugging me for another "Army man" to send a care package to.

EDIT:
I'm throwing down the gauntlet...let's make the troops proud of us!

I don't have any APO's at the present time seeing how everyone I know is back in the states. I may have a buddy with 7th SFG(A) in the sandbox so let me make some calls. Otherwise, let me ask around and see if anyone knows of anyone...

No, I'm definitely no saint...I just take the saying "put your money where your mouth is" seriously.

I just sent the $$ out & will contact them to put a note in the care package saying "From i-club.com".

I'll have to tell one of the men (Brian) involved with adoptasniper.org about the charity of an ex-11 series here on i-club.

As for the care package...

Maybe those of us that are willing to participate can put you and your son in charge of the dirty work while everyone else sends you paypal funds for more goodies? I'm down for $100+ as we speak! That's good for some baby wipes and copenhagen!

Before I agree to anything, I have one request.

This will be a Non Political event.
No badgering participants/non-participants.
No politic-ing.

Onwards.

I'm cool with that.
People can paypal me at: pdebecker@skyq.com.
If people want to snail mail me, PM me first for addy.

I will provide a full accounting of all funds received.

Let me clarify my earlier post. I'm not looking for reimbursement for my donation, but rather I'll act as the "central bank" for people here that wish to participate.
Give what you can...$1 to $1000...whatever.

Should we set up a time limit/cut off date, so as to get the package off in a timely matter?

Salty, do you think Alex will let us put a Forum-wide sticky up? That would definitely make this an i-club.com project. Either way is fine with me.

I have very good feelings about this undertaking.

Absolutely NOT POLITCAL.

We should setup a cutoff time so let's think about that too.

Let me talk to a few friends about an APO and send the idea off the Alex via PM.

Pending participation, Paul and I are sticking to Friday, October 15th for the shipping date for the care package. If participation is strong we'll send the package on Friday, October 29th.

I will be sending Paul a paypal by Sunday at the very latest and may contribute more in the future.

If you decide to contribute as little as a $1 please PM Paul and/or post a response in this thread.

I’m still looking for an APO address through a couple friends and will keep everyone posted if/when I find one.

This should be fun,

Eric
