Whiteline RSB + Helix DP + HKS Hiper = grind + clunk

Here's the simple explanation:

OK, so I've searched and read all the relevant threads. Most problems seems to come from something that broke. Well, I had no clunking before installing the Helix DP. The day it was installed I noticed an occassional grinding sound during idle and some clunking. The first thing I looked at was the position of the HKS muffler section and sure enough it was now closer to the Whiteline RSB.

The muffler seems pushed towards the rear by the new DP, bringing the muffler section's front mount closer to the RSB. I don't think there's a way to lower the muffler section (short of bending the mounts *yikes*). I've heard that Kartboy sells some extended links. How are these? Do they allow the exhaust to sway? Effective for this setup? Other ideas?

Looking at those pictures, I don't think the longer Kartboy hangers will help. The muffler will sit lower, but it looks like the part that is rubbing is the metal welded hanger section.

The simple fix would be to have a muffler shop take off the hanger and reweld it in a spot farther forward. That shouldn't cost too much.

Jason,

i have the same problem. What i did can be viewed in the picture. I took the clamp off the canister, and slid it forward a little, and retightened it so that way it keeps the catback in a position so that it frees up more room between the RSB and the exhaust hangers.

**** edit: you are correct jason, they are welded, sorry for my n00b attempt in helping. *** well for those that are experiencing the same problem with the Carbon Ti, there's your fix/solution for it.

I just might end up doing that. I like the height it hangs right now (heh)
