Vibration at high speed cruising and braking
Hi, I own a My01 (My02 in US) WRX with 90.000Km (60.000miles)
When driving high speeds i can feel a little vibration in the steering (like a very little unbalanced wheel), but when start braking it gets very bad, the car shakes hard but stil brakes good.
I tried everything, balancing, aligning, resurfacing 4 discs, etc. I was wonder if there are any bushing, joint or something else that I could forget.
I'll appreciate your comments.
Patrick

there is no warped rotor do not believe anyone that tells you that you have a warped rotor, its pad deposits that are uneven on the brake rotor. you can look at your rotor and see the orange/brown discoloration of the pad deposits on the shiny rotor. a resurfacing would fix that or you could read stoptechs article on using abrasive pads to resurface rotors.
hawk 9012 pads are heavy race pads. get those do a 3 cycles of 10 hard stops with them without braking to a complete stop and they resurface your rotor for cheap. for more info read stoptechs tech article on it.

Not discrediting stoptech, I have used abrasives on my rotor before to remove glazing and deposits which were obviously uneven. This was because of a vibration both on the brake and at high speeds. After this was complete, I reinstalled the rotors and te vibration/shimmy was still there. I Took the rotor in to have it turned and the vibration and shimmy was gone. See lots of people says things, hell Quirt Crawford think he builds the best engines on earth, are you going to listen to him? As the author from stoptech stated this has been "misunderstood for fourty years." What he says makes sense but rotors can and do warp.
