Tein Flex Vs Ra
which one would be good for me ... right now i have a 04 wrx with helix up and down pipe, and a borla hush cat-back. Im thinking about getting a set of tein flex with a EDFC, buh that's major bank. my friend is trying to sell his set of RAs with only 300 miles of them and he's selling them for 800 ... with the new suspension, im commute a lot so rideability is very important, buh im definately gonna hit up thunder hill or sears point in the near future so any input would be appreciated .. thx

well, i got the tein flex because the RA wouldn't fare well with the wife. buh it's still very bumpy with the flex, i have the front set to the softest damp buh am too lazy to set the back( .. damn seats), i havn't gotten the EDFC yet, that will come next month. so im just gonna wait till next month to adjust my rear dampening force. is there anything i can do tho my car suspension wise to make it less bumpy? cause as of right now, i can feel every bump on the road. anyway thx for the sugguestion in advance.

hmm really? well i didn't really notice a big difference between the two, i rode on 8 when i drove home and den i changed it. i dont really feel a difference. i'll change it to 8 and see if i notice anything since i've rode on it for a couple of days, and next month i will get the edfc and mess with the dampening force a lil bit more .. thx for the feedback.
hey my name is mike, i am also planning on getting tein flex because my stock STi suspension is to stiff for me. i enjoy driving it but at times i just want a non-bumpy ride. also i just got some 18" volks ce28n and i need to lower the car a bit to make it look more aggressive. but besides the lowering issue the main reason i want to get a set of tein is trying to make the ride less bumpy. from what i just read on the previous posts im thinking its not all that different then my stock suspension? and also i've heard couple of wrx owners saying they have a clunking sound in the rear of their car due to the tein suspension, do you know anything about this problem? any answers or comments will be really helpful.
Thanks,
Mike

If you are looking to make the ride "less bumpy" the new model of Flex's will not really do that, with those spring rates the ride will become much harsher than the stock set up. But I have heard many people using the STI pink springs, which have higher spring rates, and getting a less bumpy or harsh ride with them. The stock STI struts are overdamped with the stock STI springs therefore bumping up the spring rates with the pinks will smooth the ride some. And so far I have yet to hear a complaint about the ride or performance.
The only reason the pinks may not work for you is with the lowering. They will drop your car about 20mm front and back, the gap in the front will still remain.
The tein SS do have the old Flex spring rates, 5kg front and rear but from what I have heard of the SS's the stock STI set up will outhandle them hands down! But they will allow you to get the appearance you want and maybe ride more comfortably.
