suspension difference between wagon and 4 door?

hey everyone,
first off props for the forum- great info!

I am looking to improving the handling on my wagon (tons of understeer) and seem to find more parts for 4door wrx's rather than wagon parts- are these interchangeable?

Thanks!

when i got my car i thought the understeer was hella bad, i pumped my tires up more, more air in the front gives more oversteer, less air in the front then back gives more understeer, first try messing with your tire pressure,, then i heard that for the wagon strut tower brace in the rear works pretty good, but just like the 4dr, sway bars are the best thing to do,

Hey,
There are quite a bit of sedan parts that work with the wagons however there are some wagon specific parts i.e. front sway bars. If you have a question of what does and does not work just shoot me a PM.

Thanks,
Greg

Wink

Springs: Use 'wagon specific' for droopy butt (or in a sedan if your trunk is loaded with subs and amps).

Front Struts: Wagon Specific (narrower front track). Sedan front struts will hamper your camber adjustability.

Front Sway Bar: As discussed...

I'd do some research in some of the threads here and on nasioc in the suspension forums...a lot of stuff is easy to come by.

As for the basics....if you're not looking to spend much dough get yourself a set of springs...crucial or wagon pinks are my picks. Then pick up a sedan rear sway bar. You can pick one up for $40. Sometimes free. Those two things combined with better tires/wheels will make you happy for a while. HUGE difference.

As for interchangeable...most of it. Anything on the back is the same. The front things get sketchy because of the narrower track.

i've been running sedan suspension on my car for a long time now. Just pick up front and rear camber bolts or camber plates and your fine. Little droopy butt unless you run different springs.

Right now I'm running V7 Spec C struts on my wagon with pink wagon springs. Rear camber bolts. Only issue is the camber in the front..can't get any negative camber in the front because of the sedan stuff. With my camber plates I was able to get -1.3...EASILY. Could have gone to 2. but I took them off and now I am at -.25...but with some parts from GREG I should be able to hit that -1.3 to -1.5 I like so much.

So...there are a lot of little things.

Yeah so my advice on the first $1000 to spend on your car.
Used Rotas with good tires ($750)
Springs (Crucial or pink wagon..>$250-300)
Sedan rear sway bar....$40 to free...shoot I'd give you the one I have if I didn't plan to stick it on my buddies wagon.

$1000....HAPPY HAPPY you.

For a starter camber...try..

-1 in the front and -.4 in the back. It'll dial out that oversteer you hate and with the slightly larger bar in the sedan bar you'll be neutral. Then after a while buy yourself a decent set of sway bars and mounts and some endlinks...check Kartboy for the links and whiteline for the wagon specific bars...rear adjustable..dial up the oversteer you want.

You can drive my car if you want.

Ah... I think he said "understeer"? I think it's a 'typo', no? I am putting my coil overs on this week and this was the setting I was going to use.

Anyone else want to chime in for camber settings for aggressive street driving/no track?
